Политолог Сергей Старовойтов о том, что саммит с Путиным и Токаевым сделал Омск фактической столицей Сибири: У сибирских губернаторов есть древняя красивая традиция – бороться за звание "третьей столицы" России. Так повелось еще со времен Колчака, а после перестройки соревнование между регионами и городами только усилилось. События последних дней, на мой взгляд, положили конец этой дискуссии. Столица Сибири – теперь это почти официально Омск.

И я имею в виду не статусное звание Культурной столицы России, которое город носит в 2026 году. Столичность в данном случае выражается не в показателях промышленности, социалки или количестве зарегистрированных в регионе крупных налогоплательщиков. И даже не в местонахождении полпредства. А в уровне государственных стратегических задач, которые региону и его губернатору поручает федеральный центр.

В этом смысле Омск, где с 24 по 25 июля прошел XXII Форум межрегионального сотрудничества России и Казахстана с личным участием президентов Путина и Токаева, однозначно доказал свой статус. Для Омска проведение форума означает переход на качественно иной уровень. Не все это зафиксировали, возможно, и сам губернатор Виталий Хоценко и его команда, находясь внутри процесса, еще не поняли, какой тектонический сдвиг они совершили. Но совершенно очевидно, что это случилось.

В каких еще городах, кроме Москвы и Петербурга, Владимир Путин принимал глав других государств? Конечно, в Казани на саммите Россия–АСЕАН в этом году, во Владивостоке – на ВЭФ, в далеком 2007 году – в Самаре он встретился с канцлером Германии Ангелой Меркель и председателем Еврокомиссии Жозе Мануэлом Баррозу. Тогда же, кстати, прошла встреча Путина и прежнего президента Казахстана Нурсултана Назарбаева в Новосибирске.

Может, кто-то из коллег-экспертов меня поправит, но в других сибирских городах подобных примеров я не припомню. И нужно отдать должное – новосибирский кейс был почти 20 лет назад, за это время мир изменился кардинально. Сегодня совместные мероприятия с дружественными странами обрели особую роль, тем более, когда речь идет о таком соседе, как Казахстан, с которым у нас не только внушительный товарооборот, но и, напомню, самая протяженная общая сухопутная граница – 7,5 тысяч километров на востоке, в сторону которого мы усиленно разворачиваемся последние четыре года.

Для подтверждения моего тезиса было бы достаточно, если бы главы государств просто провели в Омске личную встречу. Однако Омск не ограничился простой ролью места для встречи двух президентов. Он стал площадкой для решения вопросов стратегического характера между двумя крупнейшими государствами Евразии.

Кстати, напомню, что идея встречи двух президентов на форуме возникла именно на встрече Владимира Путина с омским губернатором в мае этого года. @ejdailyru

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio met Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Manila on Wednesday, saying talks focused on identifying areas of cooperation to lay the groundwork for a "very positive visit" to Washington by President Xi Jinping in September.

Rubio, speaking on the sidelines of an ASEAN regional gathering, said both sides have differences but that their job is to manage them and ensure they do not get out of control. The ceasefire is starting to crack

The U.S.-Iran deal is falling apart before our eyes.

According to media reports, Iran first attacked three commercial ships near the Strait of Hormuz. Then the U.S. responded by striking more than 80 Iranian targets, including air defense systems, radar installations, and patrol boats.

Now Iran has retaliated with strikes on U.S. bases in Bahrain and Kuwait. At the same time, the U.S. revoked its authorization for Iranian oil sales — the very authorization it had granted just a week ago.

Technically, the ceasefire is still in place — the negotiations are continuing. In reality, both sides are exchanging strikes, and the conflict is once again beginning to pull neighboring Gulf countries into the fighting.

The oil market has already reacted: Brent crude rose more than 3% to $76.50 a barrel. Just a week ago, however, the market was pricing in hopes of a deal, and oil had fallen to its lowest levels.

Once again, we've seen that conflicts like these are easy to start and nearly impossible to end.
