The Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, warned us not to lie to him, to attribute to him a hadith that did not emanate from him, and to tell something contrary to reality, so we say: He said, or the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, did something that he did not say or do, whether it was good or evil.
