For the second meeting of Politische Poetik: Berlin Sessions, a discussion club series organized by Chto Delat Emergency Project Room together with syg.ma, we invite Dёni Mustafa — initiator and editor of ʒиN, a publication series on the independent multilingual platform syg.ma.
This session will be dedicated to the latest issue:
ʒиN #22: “The Political under Conditions of Emigration”
published in April 2026
The issue brings together the voices of Russian-speaking political refugees reflecting on political identity, displacement, and self-determination after four years of war.
Through essays, poetry, and personal narratives, its contributors explore what it means to remain political while being separated from one’s country, living in exile, and navigating the uncertain position of a foreigner.
Together with the authors, invited respondents, and the audience, we will discuss the central question raised by the issue:
What does “the political” mean for us in our new situation of separation from Russia — and in the condition of being strangers who are still trying to understand who we are and where we belong?
The issue features contributions by:
Yury Yurkin, German Preobrazhensky, MishMash, Sasha Skochilenko, Vera Martynov, Maksim Yevstropov, Anastasia Vepreva, Vsevolod Lisovsky, Alla Gutnikova, and Dmitry Vilensky.
We will invite as many of the authors as possible to join the conversation.

The series responds to the growing need for a shared political space where texts can become starting points for live conversations, deeper exchange, and new forms of political imagination.

Dёni Mustafa is a contemporary artist of Russian origin based in France. His practice brings together video, performance, participatory art, installation, text and independent publishing. He works with political and social contexts, migration, personal experience and collective forms of action. His projects often develop through instructions, encounters, field research and collaboration with participants. Since 2023, he has also been creating and coordinating artist zines and collective publishing projects.
Dmitry Vilensky (born in Leningrad in 1964, lives in Hamburg) is an artist, educator and cultural environmentalist with no art degrees. He elicits situations and relationships. He is founding member of collective Chto Delat and active in many fields of contemporary art.
No one knows what he is up to right now: perhaps he is editing a new issue of Chto Delat’s newspaper, or maybe administering the Chto Delat Mutual Aid Fund, or editing a film, or talking with the participants of the School of Emergencies, or making a set for a new play (or installation), or preparing another Mad Tea Party (or Singing together party)… Most likely, he is doing all this and dozens of other activities at the same time, surrounded by various comradely compositions of bodies and minds in Urban Mending Lab in Hamburg or at Chto Delat Emergency Project Room in Berlin, online and in many other interconnections..
