🔎 How to Spot Scammers and Save Your Account
Messengers are a hotspot for scammers. They’re constantly inventing new ways to steal your accounts or money
⛔ Top common schemes: 1⃣ Account takeover: phishing & fake gifts Message: “Vote for my niece in a contest!” or a flashy “You've been gifted a Premium subscription” ⚠ The Catch: The link leads to a fake website. You’re asked to enter your phone number and Telegram login code. Once you enter the code - yyou hand your account over to the scammers
2⃣ Malicious files You receive an intriguing message “Hi, is this you in the photo?” with an attached file ⚠ The Catch: Look closely - it’s not an image, but an install file (often .apk for Android). Once opened, malware can access your data and Telegram account
3⃣ Fake admins & support Message: “Your account will be deleted in 24 hours. Verify via this link” Or a “channel admin” offering exclusive investments ⚠ The Catch: Real support never contacts you first or threatens you. The link from the "notification" leads to a phishing site. Once they get access, scammers demand a ransom or blackmail you with your private chats. As for fake admins, they often change just one letter in their username (e.g., lowercase 'l' to an uppercase 'I').
4⃣ Crypto scams & fake bots You see ads for "highly profitable" exchange bots, casinos, or unknown crypto tokens that are supposedly about to "moon" ⚠ The Catch: Fake bots steal your deposit. In crypto pump-and-dumps, scammers sell off their assets at the peak, leaving you holding worthless coins
🛡 How to stay safe: • Never enter your Telegram code on third-party websites • Ignore urgency. If they rush you ("the promo ends in 10 mins", "your account will be blocked right now") - it’s a common manipulation tactic • Don’t download files from strangers, or even friends if it looks unusual • Double-check usernames of anyone claiming to be support or public figures • Enable Two-Step Verification (cloud password) - his is the ultimate shield for your account
⛔ If you receive a suspicious message, the best thing to do is instantly block the user and hit "Report"
