COLDCARD Flaw Linked to Loss of Nearly 594 BTC

A security vulnerability in the COLDCARD hardware wallet's seed generation process has been linked to the theft of approximately 594 BTC, raising significant concerns about the reliability of self-custody solutions.

The exploit targeted a flaw in how the device generated seed phrases — the master keys used to control crypto wallets. A compromised or predictable seed generation process can allow an attacker to reconstruct wallet access without ever physically handling the device.

The incident underscores a broader risk in hardware wallet security: users often assume the device itself is the final layer of protection, while flaws in firmware or entropy generation can silently undermine that assumption. For self-custody holders, the case highlights the importance of verifying seed generation integrity and keeping firmware updated from official sources.

🇮🇷 Ассамблея экспертов Ирана выступила против переговоров с США.

В распространенном заявлении говорится, что доверять "самоуверенному правительству США — это иллюзия", и что любой, кто призывает к "капитуляции под личиной мира" является предателем и должен быть осужден. Ассамблея призывает власти принять необходимые меры, а также выражает поддержку верховному лидеру Ирана Моджтабе Хаменеи и его "принципам" относительно переговорного процесса с Вашингтоном.

Ассамблея экспертов — это конституционный надзорный орган в Иране, который может назначать и смещать верховного лидера Ирана. Он состоит из 88 мусульманских правоведов, и избирается прямым народным голосованием каждые 8 лет.

Тот факт, что ассамблея решила публично заявить о своей позиции по переговорам — не случайность. Это мощный политический сигнал, который должен продемонстрировать единство элит и поддержку Моджтабы Хаменеи со стороны тех, кто решает его судьбу и по сути его избрал. Такое заявление как бы говорит: рахбар Ирана дееспособен, с ним всё в порядке, и никаких сомнений в этом быть не должно. Это сигнал тем скептикам, которые считают фигуру Хаменеи либо мифической (якобы он на самом деле умер или тяжело ранен, и реально не руководит страной), либо незаконной (избрали онлайн-голосованием в условиях войны).

Раз потребовалось публичное заявление от ассамблеи, значит внутренняя грызня в Иране по поводу переговоров достигла серьезного уровня. не секрет, что элиты расколоты: часть выступает за продолжение войны с США и навязывание своих условий, а часть — за мирные договоренности даже ценой сдачи части своих позиций по ядерной программе и Ормузскому проливу. Заявление ассамблеи — это как раз часть политической борьбы за переговоры и власть. Это удар по т.н. "прагматикам", которые в этом заявлении названы "предателями", в первую очередь — президент Масуд Пезешкиан и министр иностранных дел Аббас Арагчи.

Сейчас между США и Ираном официально никаких переговоров нет. Неофициально, скорее всего, они идут. Связанные с консерваторами иранские СМИ старательно настаивают на том, что переговоров нет, хотя президент США Дональд Трамп недавно заявлял, что переговоры начались, и что якобы из-за них он отменил "крупнейшую со времён Второй Мировой войны" атаку на Иран.
